Liberals never really want to have a meaningful conversation about their ideology because they usually don’t allow for the possibility of their being mistaken. In their mind, you can either agree with them or you lack the intelligence to know any better. There are so many examples of how liberals view the world from global warming, to welfare, to economic justice and many others.
One of the great differences between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives will freely admit that they have an ideology and liberals claim no labels. Conservatives use facts and figures to support their positions citing old texts and time honored philosophies such as Adam Smith and Edmund Burke. But mainstream liberals and so called intellectuals often assert that they are simply realists or pragmatists. Liberals claim to constantly invent and reinvent society to solve its problems. This has been indicative of Obama’s presidency from the very beginning. A few days before his inauguration, Obama said: “What is required is a new declaration of independence, not just in our nation, but in our own lives — from ideology and small thinking, prejudice and bigotry.” In his inaugural address, he explained that “the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works.” No Mr. President the problem is that you’re not looking for answers, just questions that can be molded into any solution that you see fit. The perfect example of the way liberals speak in code when they want to make an ideological argument is to hide ideological claims in rhetoric hoping to win over people without being earned by honest debate.
Conservatives are as guilty as Liberals when it comes to reducing arguments to bumper stickers. But the vast majority of Conservatives will at least acknowledge their first principles which are free markets, limited government and property rights. Liberals instead often speak in liberal code that they hope will penetrate the human mindset. The top Liberal Code or speak for Liberals are Diversity is Strength, the living constitution, social Darwinism and social justice
Affirmative action used to be defended on the grounds that African-Americans are entitled to extra help because of the horrible legacy of slavery and institutionalized racism. If we consider some of the great minds in our entire human history it’s remarkable how few were educated in a diverse environment.Newton, Galileo, DaVinci and Einstein had little exposure to Asians or Africans. The genius of Aristotle and Plato can’t be reconciled with the non-Greeks with whom they chatted in the town square. If diversity is essential to learning as liberals claim then let’s dismantle historically black and women’s colleges. When I visit campuses, it’s common to see black and white students eating, studying and socializing separately by their own choice. They often do that not to discriminate but because it’s comfortable for them. People should be able to associate, work and live near anyone they wish to and that can’t be determined by some far flung government to decide for the. I submit that diversity is not strength, but can be beneficial or not depending on all of those who freely choose it to be so.
Liberals are sophisticated people who understand that the Constitution is a “living, breathing document.” The idea was largely introduced into the political world by Woodrow Wilson and his allies, who were desperate to be free of the constraints of the founders’ vision.Wilsonexplained that he preferred an evolving, “organic,” Constitution that empowered progressives to breathe whatever meaning they wished into it. It is a wildly ideological view of the nature of our political system. True Conservatives who revere the living Constitution understand the wisdom of the founders and the sanctity of the Constitution. To liberals the document is alive when the Courts finds novel rationalizations for abortion rights, but when we need to figure out how to deal with terrorists, suddenly nothing should pry the original meaning from the Constitution. Conservatives believe that the Constitution should change; they just believe that it should change constitutionally through the amendment process as provided in this great document.
Liberals will often accuse Conservatives of “Social Darwinism” while they frighten the public for generations. It does sound scary because Hitler believed in something called “Social Darwinism.” Liberals often make everyone who believes in freedom and liberty to look like crazies. Liberalism wants to play with the economy and humanity itself at the most basic level in order to fix it. In the end what we get is equality of outcomes which runs contrary to the rights of free people under the guise of freedom and liberty. We don’t want or need equality of outcomes, we need equality of opportunity. The difference means that individuals can succeed to become Steve Jobs because at the end of the day we are not equal, some of us can rise to higher levels of success and that is a good thing for all of us. Liberals misapplied the label from the outset to demonize ideas they didn’t like.
Social justice, who can argue with that as a truism, it’s a correct sentiment that no reasonable person can find fault with. There’s nothing wrong with saying it, but it’s not an argument — it’s an uncontroversial declarative statement. And yet people say it as if it settles arguments. Actually social justice will often create an environment of entitlement. Unfortunately it has often come to mean that minorities have greater rights to anyone else, or that gays and lesbians deserve something that others do not. This is done in the name of social justice while often trampling the rights of others in doing so. Your right to liberty ends when it causes harm in order for a fellow citizen to enjoy their liberty. Letting ten rapists and murderers go free will almost surely result in far more harm to society than putting one poor innocent sap in jail. That is a given, that makes common sense but let’s not confuse reverse discrimination with social justice.
When you hear any of this liberal code speak understand that the people uttering these statements are not trying to have an argument. They’re trying to win an argument without having it at all. It amounts to nothing more than gibberish, words that mask their true intention which is to glorify ideas such as diversity is strength, a living constitution, social Darwinism and social justice. These are all liberal code for telling all of us that we aren’t capable of providing and caring for ourselves and that we need government to provide and care for us. Because to liberals we are the problem and government is the solution and to Conservatives the government is the problem and we are the solution. In the end it’s really all about the rights of men that come from the creator, life liberty and property.
“Social justice” sounds great on paper but is completely incompatible with logic and human nature in practice.
